At least three people have died after a four-storey lodge collapsed near the Kotma bus stand in Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh. Rescue teams continued operations on Sunday as authorities fear that several labourers and lodge occupants may still be trapped beneath the debris of the collapsed structure.
Officials said emergency teams were rushed to the spot soon after the building came crashing down. Local administration and rescue personnel began clearing the rubble and searching for survivors, while the injured were taken for medical treatment. The death toll currently stands at three, but officials warned that it may rise as the rescue work progresses. A CCTV camera installed in a building across the street captured the exact moment of the collapse. The footage shows a normal street scene before the four-storey structure suddenly begins to tilt forward. Within seconds, the building leans dangerously and collapses completely, creating a huge cloud of dust that spreads across the area.
Authorities suspect that several people may still be trapped under the debris, prompting an intensive rescue operation at the site. Search teams are carefully removing rubble in an attempt to locate survivors while officials continue to assess the cause of the sudden structural failure.
